About This Position
The LVN II - STD Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of activities and development of goals and objectives related to screening, treatment, and monitoring of Sexually Transmitted Infections/Diseases (STI/STD) of patients served by NEVHC health centers and programs. Develops surveillance reports, assures timely treatment follow-up by tracking case closure rates, oversees STD/STI grant program deliverables, and may be assigned to oversee staff associated with these grants.

Direct & Administrative: Title X/ WH Program Administrator
Programmatic/Consultative: HIV Program Administrator; Homeless Program Director
Technical/Clinical: Licensed Independent Practitioner in consultation with the Director of Nursing Services
To perform effectively in this position, the employee must:
1. Be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalency.
2. Satisfactory completed a state-approved program in vocational nursing, plus have a current license to practice in the State of California.
3. Maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR Policy.
4. Display qualities of dependability and reliability, be willing to accept a variety of tasks and be able to comprehend quickly and follow instructions accurately.
5. An LVN with at least 3 years of experience working directly in a setting working with patients being screened/treated for STI/STDs (Family Planning program, County STD program, etc.).
6. One or more years of Case Management or Care Coordination experience within a community clinic or health care setting.
7. Previous experience or training in the administration/development of public health programs preferred
8. Basic working knowledge of Grant and Contract Management, Quality Improvement, and Policy & Procedure Development is preferred.
9. Thorough working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures
10. Math skills sufficient to prepare routine spreadsheets, calculate/balance invoices/expense reports, and similar.
11. Basic leadership skills.
12. Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), electronic health record systems, and database systems.
13. Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.
14. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience.
15. Effective work organization skills.
16. Ability to work effectively as a team player.
17. Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
18. Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among members and staff.
19. Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner, including sensitivity to individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
20. Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively despite interruptions and under minimal supervision. Self-starter, reliable.
21. Demonstrated proficiency with the electronic health record database within three months of attending training session(s).
22. Fluency in English (speaks, reads, and writes).
23. Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translates, reads, and writes) preferred.
24. Ability to solve problems and make routine recommendations.
25. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.
26. Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage, and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).
27. The ability to work independently and travel to different locations to meet with patients and staff according to job duties.
