Description:

Summary: Responsible for the leadership, mentorship, and direction of the Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in providing hands on direct care and assistance to individuals with disabilities in all activities related to daily living skills, personal hygiene skills including toileting and bathing, and assisting the individuals in participating in education, recreation, social and leisure activities as defined in each individual’s program plan. Responsible for the direction and oversight of the laundry and housekeeping activities of the program including staff supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for ensuring the day-to-day provision of direct care and assistance in all activities related to daily living skills (clothing, grooming, feeding, personal hygiene skills including toileting and bathing, etc. by DSPs.
  • Responsible for ensuring DSPs are assisting individuals in participating in their education, recreation, social and leisure activities.
  • Reviews staff documentation of direct care activities to ensure accuracy and consistency with goals and objectives in program plans and that documentation is legible, complete,
  • and properly signed and dated by staff.
  • Assists Director of Nursing in coordinating staffing for doctor’s appointments
  • Coordinates DSP staffing for recreation activities outside of facility with the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Oversees training program for DSPs including new hire orientation and training and annual training.
  • Ensures DSPs follow individual program plan for each individual in all areas of treatment including lifting, transfers, therapy, feeding, communication, behavior, activities of daily living, personal care, etc.
  • Coordinates and oversees laundry and housekeeping services including ensuring that each individual has clothing and bedding that is in good condition, in the correct size, and is appropriate for age and activities.
  • Shares responsibility in on call schedule for staff coverage and for emergent situations and responds to calls in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with the leadership team of CRC to ensure direct care needs of individuals are met consistently and with quality engagement and respect, including during inclement weather.
  • Occasionally assists with direct care responsibilities including lifting and transfers.
  • Works in conjunction with shift supervisors to ensure adequate staff coverage/ratios including timely posting of work schedules and staff assignments.
  • Monitors and manages use of pool and agency staff to ensure use of appropriate and cost-effective resources

COMPLIANCE AND QUALITY

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, specifically including, but not limited to the Office of Long-Term Care, Federal Nursing home regulations, and other licensing and certification agencies.
  • Remains up to date with rules and regulations as they change.
  • Responds promptly and constructively to concerns raised by individuals served, families, or staff.
  • Continuously reviews and evaluates the quality of services being provided and works with staff to improve program quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Attends required program and/or agency-wide meetings and completes any tasks assigned during meetings within expected time frames.
  • Ensures compliance by staff in following procedures for reporting incidents, injuries, or complaints, including escalation to the program Director.

FINANCIAL

  • Participates in budget development for Habilitation and Laundry/Housekeeping departments.
  • Adheres to budget when managing personnel and non-personnel expenses.
  • Forecasts future needs in conjunction with program director.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes to maintain quality services.

While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.

Employee has access to all client protected health information in the working file of his/her discipline within his/her program. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages and supervises staff in Habilitation and Laundry/Housekeeping departments of the program. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff for these departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in health, education or social services related field preferred plus five years related experience and three years of supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Google.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Arkansas Driver's License

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
