The Agile Program Director will serve as a key leader in enabling large-scale Agile delivery and continuous improvement across complex technology programs.
This role focuses on facilitating Agile Release Train (ART) execution, improving delivery flow, and supporting teams in achieving predictable business outcomes.
You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, business stakeholders, and Agile teams to drive alignment and operational excellence.
The position requires a strong servant leader who can coach teams, remove obstacles, and establish practices that promote transparency and innovation.
You will play an important role in improving delivery capabilities within a regulated healthcare technology environment.

The Agile Program Director will lead Agile Release Train operations, coach teams and leaders, and ensure effective execution of program priorities through SAFe principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) events, including PI Planning, ART Syncs, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt sessions to drive alignment, collaboration, and measurable outcomes.
- Prepare and coordinate PI Planning activities by ensuring readiness, effective logistics, and alignment around shared missions, visions, and objectives.
- Manage ART cadence and ceremonies while identifying dependencies, scope adjustments, risks, and delivery challenges across teams.
- Operate and continuously improve Program Kanban practices, applying work-in-progress limits and optimizing feature delivery flow.
- Monitor and improve Agile delivery performance using SAFe flow metrics, including velocity, cycle time, efficiency, predictability, and workload management.
- Track ART predictability measures and provide transparent reporting on delivery performance, business value, and improvement opportunities.
- Support budget and delivery reporting processes to enable data-driven decision-making and operational visibility.
- Facilitate risk management activities using ROAM practices and ensure program-level risks are actively tracked and resolved.
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering teams to improve backlog readiness, prioritization, and execution alignment.
- Collaborate with business owners and stakeholders to coordinate dependencies and support effective cross-team collaboration.
- Champion SAFe CALMR DevOps principles and support the evolution of continuous delivery capabilities.
- Manage, mentor, and develop Scrum Masters and Agile team coaches while fostering servant leadership and continuous improvement.
- Coach teams, leaders, product owners, business owners, and stakeholders on Lean-Agile practices, built-in quality, and SAFe principles.
- Promote data-driven improvement through SAFe Measure & Grow practices focused on outcomes, flow, and organizational competency.
- Support Agile delivery within regulated healthcare environments by ensuring alignment with compliance, privacy, and security requirements.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Agile leader with a strong background in enterprise delivery, SAFe practices, and team coaching. They should have excellent communication skills, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to guide organizations through Agile transformation.
- 6+ years of experience in Agile delivery, with at least 2 years in a program-level facilitation or coaching role such as Release Train Engineer or Senior Scrum Master.
- Experience managing Scrum Masters, Agile coaches, or similar delivery-focused roles.
- Proven experience facilitating SAFe PI Planning and ART-level ceremonies.
- Strong understanding of ART and Program Kanban, dependency management, risk management using ROAM, and Agile flow metrics.
- Experience using Agile lifecycle management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to drive teams toward measurable improvements.
- Experience working with virtual collaboration tools and distributed teams.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Certified SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE) or SAFe® Program Consultant (SPC).
- Experience in healthcare IT environments and knowledge of privacy and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CALMR principles, and Continuous Delivery Pipelines.
- Experience supporting technology programs involving sensitive data and compliance requirements.
