Receiving Inspector

  • (Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing)
  • Location: Phoenix, AZ
  • Salary: $20.00 - $30.00, Depends on Experience
  • Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00 am – 2:00 pm, Overtime & Saturdays as needed

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Perform receiving inspection of raw materials and outside service provider (OSP) products.
  • Inspect and approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting or returning nonconforming materials.
  • Review documentation such as certificates of conformance, test results, and process control records.
  • Verify conformance to vendor purchase orders and/or customer requirements.
  • Prepare raw material coupons for validation testing at third-party ISO 17025 accredited labs; evaluate and file results.
  • Issue and manage closure of supplier SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Requests) and nonconformances.
  • Document inspection results in reports, logs, and quality databases.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment following company and legal standards.
  • Continuously improve job knowledge through training and technical reading.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Vendor On-Time Delivery (E2 Receiving Summary)
  • Vendor-Related Nonconformances (E2 NC Summary)
  • Internal Escapes to Subsequent Processes

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • U.S. citizenship or valid Permanent Resident status required (due to defense-related work)
  • 1–2 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, and inspection methods
  • Proficient with measuring tools (calipers, gauges, meters, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings, specifications, and customer documents
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must pass a visual acuity exam
  • “Do it right the first time” mindset and a hands-on, quality-focused attitude

Physical Requirements

  • The physical requirements of this position include but are not limited to those listed below.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, writing and typing
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting, bending and repetitive motion
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
