Location: Mobile Crisis Outreach Team - Lufkin, TX
Position Number: 1503
Salary: $43,320 - $44,755 annually, depending on qualifications and experience
Travel Reimbursement: Provided

About the Role
Burke is seeking a dedicated and compassionate MCOT Mental Health Clinician to join the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) in Lufkin, TX. MCOT services provide assistance to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis by delivering immediate assessment, intervention, and support services designed to stabilize crises and connect individuals with appropriate resources.

The MCOT Mental Health Clinician works closely with Burke staff, law enforcement, hospitals, and community partners to provide rapid crisis response, mental health screening, and intervention services. The primary goal is to de-escalate crises and, whenever possible, divert individuals from psychiatric hospitalization while ensuring they receive appropriate ongoing support and care.

This position requires strong clinical judgment, flexibility, self-discipline, and excellent documentation skills. Regular travel throughout Burke's service area is required.

What You'll Do
- Provide crisis screening, assessment, and intervention services for individuals experiencing mental health crises
- Deliver immediate and intensive responses to individuals who may require inpatient psychiatric care or community-based support services
- Collaborate with hospitals, law enforcement, community providers, and Burke staff to coordinate care
- Develop and implement crisis stabilization interventions
- Assist individuals and families in accessing community resources and behavioral health services
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Participate in weekend rotation coverage and crisis response activities
- Support efforts to reduce unnecessary psychiatric hospitalization through crisis diversion services

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, medicine, registered nurse, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, early childhood intervention, or other Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements, from an accredited college or university.
- Strong assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in high-pressure situations
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
- Flexibility to respond to crisis situations and changing priorities
- Valid Texas driver's license

What Helps You Stand Out
- Six (6) months of direct care experience working with children and/or adults in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting
- Experience conducting mental health crisis evaluations and interventions
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW) credential

Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday; generally 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Flexibility is required
- Weekend rotation coverage generally every seventh weekend as part of a forty (40) hour work week
- Extended hours may occasionally be required based on crisis response needs

Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Texas driver's license required
- Must be physically able to complete SAMA, CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training modules
- Driving record must be insurable by Burke's insurance administrator
- Reliable personal vehicle required with routine travel throughout the service area
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW) preferred

Physical Requirements
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods
- Ability to perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity
