SUMMARY:
The Communications & External Relations Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the MCCA’s visibility and reputation by managing internal and external communications, including social media, newsletters, and event coverage. This role plays a key part in capturing and amplifying MCCA’s activities through high-quality photography and videography, while also ensuring timely updates to digital platforms. By managing media relations and tracking coverage, the Coordinator helps shape and maintain a positive public image for the MCCA, supporting the organization's overall mission and goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Communications & External Relations may designate various other activities. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. VIDEOGRAPHY & PHOTOGRAPHY
- Capturing events, programs, partnerships and other MCCA activities
- Operating and maintaining all video & photography equipment (cameras, lenses, etc.)
- Organizing media files and folders (file hierarchy/file sharing)
- Editing and exporting footage for internal and external uses
- Color grading/color correcting, syncing sound, digital effects, sourcing music & audio for videos
- Storyboarding/shot listing
- Working with non-actors/other employees in videos and photographs
- Assisting in the MCCA podcast studio
PUBLIC RELATIONS & COMMUNICATION
- Managing all MCCA social media accounts by daily monitoring and scheduling posts
- Maintaining a consistent voice when engaging & posting on MCCA social media accounts
- Preparing and distributing the MCCA’s internal News Clips daily
- Drafting language to accompany videos and photographs being captured
- Taking photos/videos at assigned client events.
- Updating both MCCA external and internal website content (News, Press Releases, etc.)
- Tracking and organizing all news coverage regarding the MCCA and its facilities
- Assist with preparing materials or written communication for the MCCA Board of Directors and the Executive Director
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is received from the Director of Communications & External Relations and includes assignment of duties, inspection of work, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

- Knowledge of communications, public relations, and media production principles and practices, including current social media platforms and digital content trends
- Skill in photography and videography, including camera operation, lighting, composition, audio synchronization, and post-production editing (color grading, digital effects, music/audio sourcing)
- Skill in written communication, including storytelling, social media copy, press releases, and editorial content, with the ability to maintain a consistent organizational voice across platforms
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, event-driven environment, including directing non-actors in productions
- Ability to organize and maintain digital media file systems and asset libraries
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant mobile applications
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
- One (1) year of experience in communications, media production, social media management, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience operating photography and/or videography equipment and editing software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media and Film Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field
- Two (2) or more years of experience in a communications or media production environment
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts, including content scheduling and community engagement
- Demonstrated track record of strong project management and strategic communications skills
- Experience working in a public sector, quasi-public, or events-driven organization

WORK SCHEDULE: Standard business hours, with the understanding that this position’s schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of a particular event or project, which would require the ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends, and holidays. Travel to other MCCA facilities may be required.
All positions within the MCCA are designated as on-site roles. As such, this position requires in-person attendance five days per week. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not part of MCCA's operational model.
DRESS CODE: Business formal. Employees are expected to project dignity and decorum appropriate for public-facing leadership roles through professional dress and grooming.
