Purpose:

The Account Director will lead strategic customer engagement, drive new business acquisition, and expand key account relationships across commercial, government, and international markets. This role requires deep familiarity with communications ground segment technologies, including multi propagation RF systems high-power amplifiers (HPAs), solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs), frequency conversion, and system integration. The ideal candidate will combine technical fluency with a proven ability to identify opportunities, structure winning pursuits, and build long-term partnerships. They will grow the business by identifying, developing and capturing new opportunities by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities in commercial, government, and defense communications markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prime reseller.
  • Develop and execute account plans targeting both incumbent and emerging programs, projects, and opportunities.
  • Lead or support capture strategy, proposal development, pricing, and negotiation activities for key pursuits.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including engineering, product management, manufacturing, supply chain, sales operations, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Create and maintain a sales forecast to support a “build to forecast” rather than “build to order” production model in order to reduce lead time and increase sales.
  • Maintain awareness of customer acquisition strategies, program funding, contracting mechanisms, and competitive landscape.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to plan and support industry trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings as the face of the company.
  • Provide customer feedback to influence product development, technology roadmaps, and long-term business strategy.
  • Build, track and report on pipeline activity using SalesForce CRM.
  • Build out the rolling new business pipeline in SalesForce at least 5 years into the future.
  • Maintain the SalesForce database to ensure accuracy and relevancy of data.
  • Ensures all key customer accounts are assigned an Account Manager.
  • Serve as Capture Manager for all opportunities with prime reseller.
  • Direct planning, research, and analysis of the organization's objectives, long-range planning, business opportunities, and business development activities, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Provide input to the Product Management and Engineering Teams on new product or service features to be developed to meet current and future customer needs.
  • Manage assigned budgets to achieve the above duties by allocating funds for research and capturing efforts. Delegate or serve as Cost Account Manager (CAM) for these efforts.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of radio frequency amplifier technology, multi-propagation architectures, and terminal systems.
  • Familiarity with international export compliance (ITAR, EAR).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, manage complex sales cycles, and close multi-million-dollar opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Strong knowledge of digital modem technology, multi-propagation architectures, and terminal systems.
  • Familiarity with LEO, MEO, GEO constellations and emerging multi-orbit architectures.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a U.S. Secret clearance

Skills:

  • Experience managing SalesForce or other CRM is preferred. The selected candidate will be required to master SalesForce data input and reporting.
  • Prior experience with RF amplifier OEMs, systems integrators, or prime contractors in the RF communications ecosystem.
  • Technical fluency tied to RF propagation, linearization, redundancy systems, and deployable communications systems design.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (master’s degree or MBA preferred).

Experience:

  • 10+ years of business development, sales, or program capture experience in satellite communications, electronics, or related technology sectors.
