Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
IFS Industries is seeking a motivated and dependable Industrial Maintenance Technician for our Garland facility. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and completing repairs to minimize downtime and support efficient production operations.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, industrial maintenance experience, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Candidates must be willing to work the assigned shift, overtime as needed, and support operational requirements during peak production periods.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform monthly preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electric and pneumatic pumps.
- Repair and rebuild diaphragm pumps ranging from ¾" to 3" in size.
- Replace mechanical seals in centrifugal pumps.
- Repair and rebuild gear pumps.
- Perform pump shaft alignment.
- Conduct minor electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Complete general facility upkeep and routine maintenance repairs.
- Perform welding and metal fabrication work as needed (MIG, TIG, Stick welding, torch, and plasma cutting experience preferred).
- Complete projects and work orders with minimal supervision.
- Create, update, and close work orders using a web-based maintenance management system.
- Respond to maintenance issues during scheduled on-call rotations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley drives and PLC troubleshooting preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high performance standards.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to participate in an after-hours and weekend on-call rotation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- Technical school or trade certification.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley drives and PLCs.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
SeeingMust be able to read reports, maintenance documentation, and use a computer.
HearingMust be able to hear and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Standing/Walking/MobilityMust be able to stand for extended periods while performing equipment repairs and walk throughout the facility to complete maintenance activities.
Climbing/Stooping/KneelingMust be able to perform maintenance activities that require climbing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Lifting/Pulling/PushingMust be able to routinely lift and move 50+ pounds.
Dexterity/Grasping/FeelingMust be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
Heavy Work: Routinely exerting 50+ pounds of force.
Work Environment
- Must follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures and outdoor conditions while performing facility maintenance.
