Job Description

Job Summary:

The Development Officer is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution and evaluation of Village events that include fundraising, donor engagement & stewardship events, receptions, press conferences and other events that may pertain to Ambassadors, Auxilians, Board Members, friends of The Village and staff. **Must be comfortable soliciting gifts for the agency through sponsorships. appeals and at donor meetings**

Starting salary: $60,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Senior Director of Development plan and execute all aspects of fundraising objectives and special events including but not limited to budgets, timelines, sponsorships, vendors, rsvp’s, and online giving tools.
  • In collaboration with the Communications Department generate timelines for invitations, collateral material, donor recognition, appeals, and United Way Campaign.
  • In Collaboration with the Senior Director of Development plan and coordinate meaningful volunteer opportunities for corporate engagement and other organizations to steward the relationships with The Village.
  • In Collaboration with the Senior Director of Development and the Communications Team plan and coordinate donor recognition and stewardship events.
  • Provide exceptional service to internal staff and constituents.
  • Ensures all events are managed consistently within the organization’s policies and guidelines.
  • Ensures data entry standards are adhered to for accurate reporting.
  • In Collaboration with the Senior Director of Development and in conjunction with the IT Department implement AI to streamline data reporting functionality
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Minimum three year’s experience in planning and executing successful fundraising events. Proven track record in attracting sponsorships, contract review, budget management and establishing goals.
  • Proven self-starter with a positive attitude who can multi-task multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work well independently on concurrent projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with executives, donors, volunteers.
  • Project management and organizational skills, problem solving and paying attention to details is imperative.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, flexibility, discretion and must be able to maintain confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Comfortable navigating fundraising software including Little Green Light, Wealth Engine and like donor databases. Adept with online registration platforms and willingness to learn functionality around AI integration to help better the donor experience.
  • Reliable personal transportation is required, must possess a valid Connecticut Driver’s license. Must be able to physically perform the functions of the position, which at times may include working more than 40 hours per week along with some nights and weekends.
