Job Description
The Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) is seeking a dependable, energetic, and customer-focused Food Service Associate to join our team. In this role, you'll help create a welcoming dining experience for our youth, members, and guests while supporting our mission of providing healthy, nutritious meals to the children and families we serve. From meal preparation and customer service to maintaining a clean, safe kitchen and concession areas, you'll play an important role in the daily operation of our food service program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Deliver exemplary guest & member services and participate in all activities associated with the Kitchen, Cafeteria, Wellness Window and the Concession stand including, but not limited to prepping, cooking, cleaning, sales, money handling and serving in a safe & clean environment.
- Prepare food/concessions in a timely and efficient manner
- Appropriately handle cash and credit card transactions
- Assist in preparing healthy and nutritional meals for the children that attend our programs throughout the AYCC
- Assist in preparing a monthly menu chart, maintain the record, and distribute as necessary. (Distribution may include email distribution to staff and local media outlets.)
- Follow established standards of sanitation, safety and food preparation in all areas of the Kitchen including but not limited to following all appropriate local and state health department food safe rules and regulations.
- Be aware and sensitive of those children who are new to the program and take the necessary steps to ensure that they are oriented to program logistics, schedules, and rules that govern conduct and activities with the Alfond Youth & Community Center as it pertains to food services.
- Be aware of allergies and/or other relevant health information
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- A high school education or GED equivalence if preferred
- A valid driver’s license with a clean record is desirable
- Food Safety/Safe Handling Certification from an approved source
- Ability to obtain certification if not currently holding, within 6 months
- Civil Rights training is required and provided for all persons who are associated with Food Service
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 to 3 years of experience working in food distribution and preparation
- 1 to 3 years of customer service experience

WORK SCEHDULE:
- Part time at 27 hours per week
- Open availability preferred
- Saturdays are required September - May
