What We Offer
At Félix, we're building the financial ecosystem for Latin immigrants in the U.S., starting with a revolution in remittances. Our core product is an AI-powered chatbot built on WhatsApp, allowing our users to send money home as easily as sending a text message. We leverage cutting-edge technology like AI, blockchain, and stablecoins to make cross-border payments faster, more affordable, and more accessible than ever before.
We are a hyper-growth Series B company, backed by over $100 million in funding from top-tier global investors, including QED, Castle Island, Switch Ventures, HTwenty, Monashees, and General Catalyst Customer Value Fund. This isn't just about the numbers; it's a testament to the trust our investors have in our vision and our team. Additionally, Félix was selected as an “Endeavour Entrepreneur” and was a recipient of the CrossTech Fintech Startups Award. We are a group of extremely talented and dedicated high-performers, united by our shared obsession with a single goal: empowering our customers. We are all owners of Félix, driven by a bias for action and a true experimentation spirit to get shit done with urgency and focus.
Joining Félix means you will be part of a team building a legacy, a company that will outlive us all. This is a rare opportunity to apply your skills to a deeply meaningful mission—serving a community that has been underserved for too long. We are a team that is fiercely loyal to each other, where radical transparency and constructive feedback are how we grow and push for excellence. We are bold, we care less about what others are doing, and more about creating sustainable value and a product that truly makes our users' lives better. We are building the future, today.
As a Fraud Prevention Specialist, you own the analytical layer that keeps fraud out of the Félix ecosystem — not just the layer that explains it after the fact.
You sit between front-line investigators, Fraud Strategy, and Data. Your mission is to turn raw fraud signals into two outputs: insight that changes decisions, and controls that stop attacks in progress.
This is a high-agency role. You won't wait for a ticket. You will interrogate the data, surface emerging threats before they show up in loss numbers, and translate what you find into detection logic that holds up in production. When an attack is live, you are expected to move from hypothesis to containment quickly, and to defend the tradeoff between blocked fraud and blocked good customers.
Detection & Analysis
- Run proactive, hypothesis-driven analysis to identify new fraud patterns, coordinated attacks, and emerging threats across the Félix ecosystem.
- Build and maintain complex SQL queries to deep-dive suspicious activity and expose fraud rings, mule networks, and account-takeover behavior.
- Monitor core fraud metrics (chargeback ratio, approval/pass rate, false positive rate, loss rate) to detect anomalies early and shorten time-to-detection.
- Connect disparate data points across products, channels, and time windows to identify sophisticated fraud and structural vulnerabilities.
Prevention & Containment
- Design, prototype, and validate detection rules — sizing expected fraud capture, false positive impact, and customer friction before rollout.
- Deploy containment rules during active attacks and monitor performance in real time, adjusting thresholds as attacker behavior shifts.
- Continuously review rule performance and retire or tune logic that is decaying, over-triggering, or no longer earning its false positive cost.
- Document rule intent, logic, and expected impact so decisions remain auditable and reversible.
Strategic Partnership
- Act as the primary technical team member in the Fraud Investigations team, converting operational observations into structured analysis and reusable queries.
- Partner with Fraud Strategy, Data, ML, Product and Operations on rule logic, coverage gaps, and prevention roadmap priorities grounded in your findings.
- Translate complex findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership.
- Master our data tooling and underlying SQL tables, and improve investigator workflows and self-serve access over time.
- High proficiency in SQL, including navigating complex, unfamiliar schemas to extract insight under time pressure.
- Proven experience identifying fraud patterns, preferably in Fintech, Payments, or Remittances.
- Practical understanding of fraud controls and their tradeoffs — rule logic, thresholds, precision vs. recall, and the business cost of false positives.
- Ability to translate data findings into clear, actionable language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong ability to connect the dots across disparate data points to uncover organized fraud and systemic gaps.
- A self-starter mindset: you operate with little guidance and have a strong bias for action.
- Experience owning or tuning production fraud rules in a real-time decisioning environment.
- Familiarity with risk platforms and vendor signals and chargeback/dispute lifecycles.
- Exposure to ML-assisted fraud scoring and model/rule governance processes.
- Knowledge on AI tools to enhance Fraud Investigative work
- These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
- Competitive salary
- Initial stock options grant
- Annual performance bonus
- Health, dental, and vision plans
- Remote work environment, although we have offices in Miami and México City and would love to work in hybrid model if you are up to it.
- Continuous learning opportunities
- Unlimited PTO
- Paid parental leave
- Empowering opportunities for growth in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment
