This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Strategic Finance based in the United States.
This is an opportunity to lead strategic finance at a fast-growing global fintech operating at the intersection of corporate payments, treasury, and stablecoin infrastructure. Reporting to the President and CFO, you will own company-wide financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and long-range modeling while helping leadership make data-driven strategic decisions. You will translate complex financial and operational performance into actionable insights for executives, the Board, and investors. Working across Finance, Data, Capital Markets, Financial Operations, and Risk, you will connect growth, liquidity, credit performance, and capital efficiency into a unified financial strategy. You will also modernize financial workflows through AI-powered automation and scalable systems. This remote US-based role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who thrives in high-growth environments and wants to build, lead, and continuously improve the strategic finance function.
Accountabilities:You will lead the strategic finance function, establish robust planning processes, and serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership. Your responsibilities will include:
Lead strategic financial planning: Develop quantitative analyses and actionable recommendations to support company-wide strategic decisions, translating financial results into clear business implications.
Own budgeting and forecasting: Manage annual budgets, periodic forecasts, monthly performance reviews, headcount planning, and product-level forecasting. Design and lead bottom-up budgeting and workforce planning across the organization.
Maintain the consolidated operating model: Own the company's financial model and long-range plan, ensuring they reflect business priorities, growth assumptions, and financial objectives.
Analyze unit economics: Develop a deep understanding of product and geographic performance across fiat and crypto offerings, including different currencies, payment rails, and blockchain networks.
Deliver executive and Board reporting: Produce monthly performance packages for leadership and the Board, consolidating financial and operational results into clear, decision-oriented insights.
Establish budget accountability: Implement and maintain a budget-versus-actuals (BvA) review cadence with leadership, identifying variances, assessing their drivers, and supporting corrective actions.
Develop segment reporting: Build reporting frameworks that provide visibility into performance across business segments, products, and geographies.
Strengthen data-driven decision-making: Partner closely with the Data team to improve financial analytics, reporting capabilities, and the use of data in strategic and operational decisions.
Prepare investor materials: Collaborate with the President and CFO on high-impact Board presentations, investor reporting, and other materials supporting stakeholder engagement.
Modernize financial infrastructure: Own the strategic finance systems and tooling roadmap, improving the infrastructure used by the broader Finance organization.
Integrate credit and capital planning: Partner with Finance, Capital Markets, Financial Operations, and Risk to incorporate credit portfolio performance, facility utilization, and losses into financial plans.
Optimize capital efficiency: Ensure growth, liquidity, credit risk, and financial returns are planned together to support the sustainable scaling of a global financial services business.
Build and mentor the team: Develop finance professionals, establish high-performance standards, and maintain a hands-on leadership approach that combines strategic direction with execution.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of financial services experience, operational finance leadership, advanced analytical skills, and a strong appetite for building scalable processes in a rapidly evolving business. Candidates should demonstrate the following:
Relevant professional background: Ideally, 2–4 years in investment banking or credit investing, followed by 4–8 years in operating finance roles at fast-paced, high-growth global fintech companies. Direct operating experience is essential.
Balance-sheet business experience: Background in a business involving lending, corporate cards, payments, or credit facilities. Experience limited to SaaS strategic finance without balance-sheet exposure is not a fit for this role.
AI-native finance capabilities: Hands-on experience building agentic automation and AI-powered workflows using Claude or other models and frameworks to improve financial analysis, modeling, reporting, and broader finance operations.
Crypto and stablecoin knowledge: Strong familiarity with crypto and stablecoins, or the ability to develop that expertise quickly. Crypto-adjacent financial experience is an advantage.
End-to-end planning expertise: Personal experience building and running at least one complete budgeting and financial planning cycle.
Strategic and analytical judgment: Ability to interpret complex financial and operational data, understand unit economics, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Executive and investor communication: Confidence presenting financial insights and strategic recommendations to a Board of Directors, institutional investors, and senior leadership.
People leadership: A strong track record of developing, mentoring, and building high-performing finance teams.
Entrepreneurial mindset: Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments characterized by rapid change, ambiguity, and evolving business priorities.
Hands-on ownership: Willingness to build and improve processes from end to end rather than simply maintain existing systems. The role requires a player-coach who can lead the function while remaining directly involved in execution.
Cross-functional collaboration: Ability to work effectively with Finance, Data, Capital Markets, Financial Operations, Risk, and other stakeholders to align financial planning with business performance.
Remote work within the United States.
