Job Description
Under general direction and supervision of the Deputy Treasurer, the Office Specialist is responsible for providing front-line customer service to residents, processing payments, balancing daily transactions, and supporting the Treasurer’s Office with administrative and financial tasks. The position ensures accuracy in all transactions, compliance with township and state procedures, and courteous service to the public.

Work is performed in a professional office setting within the Treasury Department. The environment is quiet, climate-controlled, and equipped with standard office technology, including a computer, telephone, printer, and filing systems. Duties are carried out primarily at workstations with frequent computer, telephone, and register use.

- Assist residents at the front counter by answering questions, providing information, and accepting payments.
- Process payments received from all township departments, with primary focus on property tax and utility payments.
- Perform daily cash balancing of the cash register and prepare accurate deposit records.
- Maintain compliance with township policies and state regulations regarding financial transactions.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service while resolving resident inquiries and concerns.
- Support the Treasurer’s Office with clerical, administrative, and financial responsibilities as assigned.
- Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, BS&A, and experience with adding machines.
- Prior experience in customer service, cashiering, bookkeeping, or office administration preferred.
- Knowledge of structure, policies, procedures, and regulations or municipal government, is desired but not required.

- Knowledge of basic accounting and cash handling practices.
- Proficiency with office software and financial systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to interact effectively with the public and staff in a courteous manner.
- Ability to be detail oriented, meet deadlines, and multitask.
