This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Employee Relations Lead in Canada.
This role is a foundational hire within a fast-growing, mission-driven organization, responsible for building and scaling a global employee relations function from the ground up.
You will act as the primary subject matter expert for employee relations, helping leaders navigate complex workplace situations with fairness, consistency, and compliance.
The position plays a critical role in shaping investigations, performance management practices, and employee experience across multiple regions.
You will partner closely with People Business Partners, Legal, and operational leaders to address sensitive employee matters and ensure sound decision-making.
This is a highly visible role with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities, blending policy design with real-time case management.
The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and evolving, requiring strong judgment and the ability to build structure in ambiguity.
You will directly influence how employee relations is practiced across a distributed, international workforce.
- Lead and manage workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, misconduct, grievances, policy violations, and other employee concerns, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
- Coach and support managers through performance management processes, including performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, terminations, and complex employee situations.
- Partner with Legal, People Operations, and HR teams on compliance-related matters such as workplace safety, accommodations, injury reporting, and retaliation concerns.
- Build and standardize employee relations frameworks, including investigation playbooks, case management processes, templates, and reporting structures.
- Support policy development, handbook updates, and interpretation across multiple regions to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Use employee relations data and trends to proactively identify risks, recommend improvements, and strengthen organizational practices.
- Contribute to restructuring, workforce transitions, and change management initiatives in collaboration with People leadership and Legal partners.
- 4–6+ years of experience in employee relations, HR generalist, or closely related HR roles with strong exposure to complex employee relations cases.
- Proven experience conducting workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, misconduct, or policy violations.
- Experience supporting hourly or non-exempt populations in operational environments such as logistics, warehouse, retail, manufacturing, or similar settings.
- Strong understanding of US employment law, with the ability to apply sound judgment and escalate legal risks appropriately.
- Familiarity with workplace safety topics, including OSHA-related considerations, accommodations, and injury or incident reporting.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to document investigations, policies, and manager guidance clearly and objectively.
- Ability to influence and coach managers and senior stakeholders through sensitive and high-stakes situations.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, evolving organization while building scalable processes.
- Nice to have: experience in multi-country employee relations (Canada, UK, or Europe exposure is a plus) and interest in HR technology or AI-enabled tools.
