Job Description

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a General Manager who oversees and manages various aspects of a business unit or broader processes. Creates and establishes department policies and objectives while aligning with strategic corporate direction. The primary duties of this job require management of business or department. Responsibilities include hiring and firing subordinate employees (or effectively recommending such decisions), interviewing, selecting, and training employees; setting and adjusting rates of pay and hours of work; directing employees’ work; maintaining production records for use in supervision; appraising employees’ productivity and efficiency for recommending promotions or other changes in status; handling employee complaints and grievances; disciplining employees; assigning work among employees; and providing for the safety and security of the employees. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

Job Accountabilities:

  • Oversees various business operations aspects or broad processes within the business unit/the global function
  • Creates plans, develops and establishes policies to facilitate business units or business processes to meet objectives in accordance with strategic corporate direction
  • Collaborates with business unit leaders to formulate strategies that satisfy business and customer requirements
  • Performs data analysis from business unit processes and communicates metrics to upper management
  • Works within budget to allocate staff and other resources to ensure that operations run smoothly and best utilize available funding to meet departmental objectives
  • Develops and supports a cross functional culture of continuous improvement
  • Schedules workload to meet priorities; achieving all performance related targets
  • Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs
  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


Job Specifications:

Education:
Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Management or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years’ Experience: 10 - 15 years of relevant experience
Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management skills to enable the creation of highly effective operational processes
  • Demonstrated ability to execute functional business plans and contribute to the development of functional strategy
  • Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations
  • Capable of directing the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment
  • Ability to absorb and apply new technical information and evaluate implications
  • Demonstrates a high level of ethical behavior in exercising judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools
