The Director, Wellness & Belonging is responsible for building, creating, promoting, and where applicable, strengthening the organizational culture of well-being by defining the wellness mission and working to improve the health and well-being of employees organization-wide. The Director, Wellness & Belonging is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing programs across the organization, focused on company-wide initiatives that ensure wellness and diversity are a priority and organizational commitment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement wellness-based organizational strategies that promote the overall health, safety and well-being of employees by assessing current programs and creating new strategies for enhanced engagement.
- Establish and support wellness-based organizational strategies that create, promote and strengthen opportunities to allow for a culture of transparent feedback, active listening, and acknowledgement.
- Establish, and monitor internal and external trends and recommend innovative program recommendations.
- Creation of a wellness committee to establish areas of emphasis that include, but are not limited to: trauma awareness, communication, education, diversity and well-being.
- Establish, maintain and support committee sub-groups as it relates to diversity and inclusion, critical incidents, and professional stress.
- Assess employee population needs to develop appropriate wellness programming based on feedback from employees and other stakeholders.
- Develop and design pro-active communication and education in creating awareness and motivation while providing tools to employees that help them adapt and maintain a well-rounded healthy lifestyle.
- Implement wellbeing rewards related activities to include health awareness, educational campaigns, behavior change programs, and health assessments/screenings.
- Partner with appropriate stakeholders for employee health and productivity programs, workshops and seminars, teams and leagues, runs/walks, wellness fairs and special events.
- Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), VP of Quality and Risk Management, and the Provider Engagement Team (PET) to support provider-specific initiatives.
- Works with employee “Change Champions” to build enthusiasm and focus efforts.
- Consults with other departments/functions in the company to align efforts and reinforce a culture of wellness.
- Manage Wellness Program budgets – create a budget, report on budget variances, and forecast actual expenses.
- Manage wellness program reports i.e., utilization, statistics, and satisfaction.
- Manage wellness related communications by partnering with the marketing department (e-mails, posters, screen messaging, desk-drops, wellness website, etc.).
- Keep abreast of current national wellness and wellbeing initiatives and activities, developing a network of resources and contacts to use
- Participate in the PET and Quality /Safety Committees.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Wellness or related field.
- Undergraduate education in fields such as exercise science, medicine, kinesiology, nutrition or other health studies.
- 10+ years of experience in the healthcare industry and/or related fields.
- 7+ years of growth in planning programs that benefit the health, safety and well-being of a population.
- Understanding of public health issues, health practices and policies.
- Understanding of trends and best practices in employee health.
- Strong reasoning, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships across all area of an organization.
- Excellent consultative skills to shape solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
- Master’s degree.
