Senior Research Scientist, Internal Medicine-Nephrology in Galveston, Texas at University of Texas Medical Branch

Job Description:

To support the research initiatives of the University.

Job Duties:

• Evaluates, selects and applies standard scientific techniques and procedures while using judgment when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.
• Contributes to scientific analysis and interpretation of projects.
• Maintains records of all tests performed and data collected, compiles and tabulates data, provides analysis of results.
• Confers with lab staff regarding results obtained and receives suggestions for modification to procedures and interpretation of final data.
• Presents research and journal articles in weekly scheduled meetings.
• Presents abstracts or oral presentations at campus events and external conference opportunities.
• Independently performs literature searches as outlined by the Principal Investigator.
• Guides junior research staff in experimental methodologies.
• May submit training grants as PI.
• Performs related duties as required.

Required Skills:

• Molecular biology techniques

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD, MD or DO in biological sciences, chemistry or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD degree and 3 - 5 years of related experience

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.
