Job Description
Duties: Quickly respond to all emergency systems and calls according to policy and procedure. Operate SPOK, CBX, Emergency Code Phone, and Console to relay incoming and outgoing calls. Operate overhead paging system along with other communication related equipment and information technology systems such as Everbridge, SnapComm, Fire Alarm Detection System Cuddles Infant/Child monitoring System and, National Weather Service Radio. Communicates with Facilities and Security teams during system alarms and emergency procedures.
Communications
- Answer calls in a courteous and prompt manner using established scripting.
- Transfers calls to the correct party according to Policy and Procedure.
- Issues emergency alerts, notifications, and stat pages according to Policy and Procedure; maintains calm manner during emergency situations.
- Possesses excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
Equipment
- Operates all Switchboard related equipment according to manufacturer specifications and departmental policy.
- Responds to system alarms according to policy and procedure; reports mechanical alarms and or malfunctions to Security team, Facilities team, Telecom, Information Systems, and Unit Manager as appropriate.
- Manages call flow: calls waiting, hold times, emergency calls, etc. in accordance with the recommended time allotments while satisfying caller needs.
- Monitors Weather radio and reports area warnings to Security team.
Position Requirements:
- High school graduate /G.E.D. diploma required.
- Previous communications/telecommunications experience preferred.
- Typing experience and P.C. familiarity required.
- Experience in various IT applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams preferred.
- Pleasant and effective verbal communication skills necessary.
- Ability to work at a fast pace under pressure with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to multi-task
