Engineering Technician

As an Engineering Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of tooling, processes, and engineering data systems to meet customer and internal requirements. This role bridges engineering, production, quality, and administrate functions by providing both technical and problem-solving and engineering support actives.

Reports to: Director of Engineering, Jonathan Van Loon

Schedule: Monday through Friday – Day Shift

What You’ll Do

• Troubleshoot and optimize tooling, molding, finishing, and manufacturing processes for both new and existing products to meet customer specifications and production requirements.
• Develop, refine, and implement production processes that improve product quality, efficiency, and consistency.
• Analyze manufacturing challenges and recommend tooling modifications and process improvements to reduce scrap, increase productivity, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with production teams to resolve complex processing issues, support difficult jobs, and improve overall operational performance.
• Provide input on tooling design and complete tooling dimension layouts in coordination with Quality Assurance.
• Support the quoting process by assisting with products, processes, and tooling cost estimates.
• Create and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain accurate engineering documentation.
• Update and maintain inventory records, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and other engineering data within ERP systems.
• Organize and maintain project records, engineering files, and documentation to ensure effective document control and traceability.
• Assist with project coordination by tracking schedules, milestones, and deliverables while documenting and communicating project updates.
• Prepare, coordinate, and ship product samples to support customer and project requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance manufacturing performance through data-driven decision-making and SPC-related initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, quality requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Maintain accurate records related to tooling, processes, engineering activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Support additional engineering and manufacturing initiatives as needed.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, as well as data entry systems.
• Experience operating and setting up manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of measurement tools, inspection methods, and quality standards.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Approximately two years of technical training or equivalent experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience with polymer processing, molding, finishing operations, or related manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of tooling design, tooling maintenance, and manufacturing best practices.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (such as IQMS), Microsoft Project, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and engineering change management processes.
• Exposure to Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Physical Requirements

• Primarily shop floor-based work, with approximately 75% of the time spent standing and actively supporting manufacturing operations.
• Ability to move throughout the production environment and perform duties associated with engineering and manufacturing support activities.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach as needed.
• Occasional lifting of materials (up to ~ 50 lbs.)
