Job Description
The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Childhood Education Lead position within our Early Learning and Child Care Department located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Manager of Childhood Education, the role supports the Licensed Home Child Care program, ECE initiatives and practicum placements, while promoting high standards of educational practice and compliance with provincial and MMF requirements.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Lead, monitor, and provide guidance and technical assistance to Licensed Home Child Care providers;
- Develop, implement, and evaluate best practices and curriculum guidelines for home-based settings;
- Coordinate ECE student practicum placements and liaise with post-secondary institutions, MMF centres, students, and practicum supervisors;
- Monitor compliance with Manitoba ELCC and MMF licensing standards, policies, and procedures;
- Develop training materials and support orientation and training for Home Child Care providers, practicum supervisors, and students;
- Establish and maintain partnerships with childcare centres, service providers, organizations, and stakeholders;
- Assist with monthly reports, proposals, applications, contract documents, and departmental strategic planning;
- Oversee and track ECE funding and subsidies, monitor invoices, and work within approved programming and centre-purchase budgets;
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field and ECE III Diploma in Early Childhood Education; equivalent experience and training may be considered;
- Minimum five years’ experience as a Licensing Manager, Provincial Coordinator, or relevant management role delivering programs and services;
- Minimum two years’ experience developing and facilitating programming, with knowledge of program management and development procedures;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using email and OneDrive;
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis history, culture and heritage, and MMF programs and services is an asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle.
