Position Summary
Rheumatology Associates is seeking a dependable and flexible Float Medical Assistant based out of our Frisco clinic. This position will provide direct support and provider coverage in Frisco on Tuesdays and Fridays while assisting with coverage needs at other clinic locations on remaining workdays as assigned.
The Float Medical Assistant will support providers and clinical staff by handling patient phone calls, voicemails, clinical documentation, medication refills, prior authorizations, scheduling, and patient triage. When provider coverage is not needed, this role will assist clinics with daily clinical operations to ensure efficient patient care and workflow.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
-Provide provider and clinic coverage in the Frisco office on Tuesdays and Fridays.
-Travel to other Rheumatology Associates locations as assigned to assist with staffing and operational needs.
- Answering phone calls and voicemails.
- Answering patient clinical questions.
- Review medical history and counsel patients regarding their clinical status and need for further evaluation or treatment.
- Evaluate a new complaint by phone and triage to emergent, urgent, or routine appointment.
- Locate laboratory results not yet in the patient’s medical records.
- Explaining/documenting laboratory results.
- Calling in prescription refills.
- Explaining procedures and treatments.
- Initiating prior authorizations.
- Schedules appointments and urgent visits as appropriate.
- Documenting all information into the computer system.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
- Adheres to policies/safety practices.

- High school Diploma
- Medical Assistant office experience
- EMR experience required.
- E Clinical Works experience preferred
- Travel is required
