Position Summary
Rheumatology Associates is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Back-Office Medical Assistant. This position will provide clinical support in both our South Dallas and Dallas clinics, working closely with the provider to deliver exceptional patient care.
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, documenting patient information, assisting with clinical procedures, coordinating patient care, handling medication requests, processing prior authorizations, and supporting daily clinic operations. This position requires travel between assigned clinic locations.
Schedule & Location- South Dallas: 3 days per week
- Dallas: 2 days per week
- Travel between locations required
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- High school Diploma
- Medical Assistant office experience
- EMR experience required.
- E Clinical Works experience preferred
- Travel may be required

PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Answering phone calls and voicemails.
- Answering patient clinical questions.
- Review medical history and counsel patients regarding their clinical status and need for further evaluation or treatment.
- Evaluate a new complaint by phone and triage to emergent, urgent, or routine appointment.
- Locate laboratory results not yet in the patient’s medical records.
- Explaining/documenting laboratory results.
- Calling in prescription refills.
- Explaining procedures and treatments.
- Initiating prior authorizations.
- Schedules appointments and urgent visits as appropriate.
- Documenting all information into the computer system.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
- Adheres to policies/safety practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
