Extended Care Provider in Kansas City, Missouri at St Gabriel Catholic Church Kansas City

St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School is seeking an Extended Care Aide for our Angel Care program after school between 3:30 and 6:00 pm. The aide provides support in supervision of children, facilitating activities, and maintaining a safe, fun, and engaging environment. This position is a good fit for college students or adults seeking part-time work with a consistent schedule, and who enjoy working with children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision: Actively supervise children during Angel Care, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
• Activity Facilitation: Assist in organizing and leading recreational and educational activities, including arts and crafts, games, and sports.
• Homework Support: Provide assistance to children in completing their homework or other academic activities as needed.
• Snack Preparation: Help with the preparation and distribution of snacks, ensuring that children with allergies or dietary restrictions are accommodated.
• Behavior Management: Promote positive behavior among children, addressing conflicts or behavioral issues as they arise in a constructive manner.
• Communication: Maintain open communication with parents or guardians regarding their child’s behavior, progress, and any incidents that occur during Angel Care, and report incidents to the school principal.
• Safety & Cleanliness: Ensure that the program environment is safe, clean, and organized. Assist with clean-up activities.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a positive and supportive environment for the children.
• Attendance: Monitor and record attendance, ensuring that all children are accounted for during Angel Care hours.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in child development or education is a plus.
• Experience: Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage with children in a positive and supportive manner, basic first aid knowledge is a plus.
