Summary

Under the general supervision of a physician or designated supervisor, this position is a key member of the team that provides optimal healthcare to our patients. As an experienced member of the healthcare team, will lead by example and support mentoring of new staff members. Additionally, the position is considered the practice expert on registration, scheduling appointments, receiving telephone calls and greeting visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Completion of one of the following:

1. Two years’ experience in a physician practice setting in a front office position or similar role.
2. One year experience in a physician practice within St. Clair Medical Services (SCMS) as either a Medical Assistant or front office position or similar role.
3. Associate’s Degree in Medical Office Administration.
4. Bachelor’s Degree and 6 months of experience in a physician practice in a front office position or similar role.

1. Familiarity with electronic practice management systems.
2. Fundamental understanding of personal computers and familiarity with the Windows operating system.
3. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Five years’ experience in a medical office setting.
2. Bachelor’s degree
3. Prior experience with acquiring medical authorizations referrals.
4. Knowledge of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
5. Prior experience in the mentoring and training of office staff.
6. Prior experience in a leadership role.
