Jerome L. Taylor Trucking, Inc. (JLT) is seeking experienced Front Load Drivers to join our team at our hauling operations facility in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This position is responsible for operating waste and recycling collection vehicles throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily solid waste and recycling collection operations across one or more service lines, including commercial front-load, rear-load, roll-off, and industrial services. This position provides direct supervision to drivers and helpers while partnering with the Operations Manager and General Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
The Operations Supervisor is accountable for achieving operational objectives related to safety, service excellence, productivity, employee engagement, and financial performance. This role fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork while ensuring adherence to all company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSafety Leadership- Promote and maintain a culture of safety through leadership, training, coaching, and employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, DOT regulations, environmental standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Identify and mitigate workplace hazards, unsafe conditions, and operational risks.
- Partner with the Maintenance Department to ensure vehicles and equipment remain safe, reliable, and compliant.
- Conduct safety meetings, incident investigations, corrective action follow-up, and ongoing safety awareness initiatives.
- Lead accident prevention and loss control efforts to protect employees, customers, the public, and company assets.
- Supervise and coordinate daily collection activities to ensure safe, efficient, and effective service delivery.
- Monitor route performance and operational results, implementing improvements to maximize productivity and service quality.
- Optimize routing, workforce utilization, equipment deployment, and operating resources to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support operational planning and execute initiatives that contribute to achievement of division goals and budget objectives.
- Collaborate with dispatch, maintenance, customer service, and management teams to resolve operational challenges and support business needs.
- Ensure compliance with established operating procedures, service standards, and performance expectations.
- Deliver exceptional service by ensuring customer needs are addressed promptly, professionally, and effectively.
- Resolve service interruptions, customer concerns, missed collections, and operational issues in a timely manner.
- Partner with internal departments to maintain high service levels and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as a professional representative of the company within the community and with customers.
- Provide direct leadership, support, and supervision to drivers, helpers, and assigned operational personnel.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment that promotes employee engagement and retention.
- Conduct training, coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action when necessary.
- Develop employee skills and support career growth by identifying development opportunities and succession planning initiatives.
- Reinforce company values, operational expectations, and professional standards throughout the workforce.
- Assist in managing labor, fuel, disposal, and other operating costs to support financial objectives.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions to improve operational results.
- Identify opportunities to enhance service efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.
- Support management in achieving division productivity, revenue, and profitability goals.
- Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and documentation.
- Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support business operations.
Qualifications and requirements
