What you will be doing:
● Plan, organize, and direct all loading and shipping operations at the Hammond facility.
● Own DOT compliance for all loading and shipping operations.
● Manage tank inventory and raw material inventory.
● Manage and minimize demurrage costs.
● Track and manage OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) for loading rack operations.
● Remove operational bottlenecks and improve loading throughput.
● Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all loading, receiving, and shipping operations.
● Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program for the logistics and loading team.
● Implement manufacturing excellence principles within the logistics department.
● Minimize overtime through effective staff scheduling.
● Manage direct reports.
● Serve as backup to the Logistics Coordinator when absent.
● Carrier coordination — schedule and communicate with carriers and drivers for truck and railcar loading and receiving.
● Serve as OMC (Operations Maintenance Coordinator) for the logistics department.
● Actively support and enforce the plant’s HS&E standards and Ecovyst 20 Principles for Managing Behavioral and Operational Safety.
● Own all DOT hazmat loading and shipping compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field is preferred but not required.
● Min 5–10 years of combined chemical loading/unloading and frontline supervisory experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environment.
● Hands-on chemical loading and unloading experience a plus — direct experience with liquid acid, caustic, or similar hazardous chemical loading via truck tanker and/or railcar; familiarity with loading arms, pumps, flow meters, vapor recovery systems, and associated safety interlocks.
● DOT Hazmat regulations proficiency required.
● SAP proficiency required.
● Microsoft Excel proficiency required.
● SOP development— ability to write clear, accurate operating procedures for chemical loading, receiving, and shipping; utilize the MOC process for procedure changes.
● Manufacturing excellence experience.
● USW (or equivalent) union environment supervisory experience required — demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and hold accountable a unionized hourly loading workforce within a collective bargaining agreement.
● Inventory management experience — tank inventory monitoring, raw material receipt coordination, and production supply chain awareness.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate with carriers, Production Engineer, and site leadership on daily scheduling and exception
