Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Legends
Location: Princeton, WV
Program: Legends Inpatient Substance Use Disorder Residential Program
Position Type: Full-Time
Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join the team at Legends, our inpatient substance use disorder residential program in Princeton, West Virginia.
The DSP provides person-centered support to individuals receiving residential treatment. This position helps ensure the safety and well-being of those we serve while addressing their physical, social, health, emotional, economic, and training needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide protective oversight and help maintain a safe, supportive residential environment.
- Assist individuals with daily living activities and life-skills training.
- Provide appropriate support based on each individual’s needs and treatment goals.
- Observe individuals’ well-being and promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Encourage healthy routines, independence, and participation in program activities.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with individuals, coworkers, supervisors, and other members of the treatment team.
- Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and program guidelines.
- Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
- Utilize approved verbal and physical intervention techniques when necessary and appropriately trained.
- Perform other duties as assigned. This description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively as part of a team
- Ability to provide compassionate, respectful, and dependable support
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and utilize approved intervention techniques when necessary
