Scope of the Role?

  • Operational leadership role focused on workshop infrastructure and logistics
  • No direct responsibility for engineering or technical design decisions
  • Critical enabler for workshop execution, project delivery, and customer satisfaction
  • On-site, workshop-based role with occasional domestic travels

Bertrandt is seeking an experienced ADAS Workshop Operations Manager to oversee all operational, logistical, and facility-related aspects of a prototype vehicle workshop environment. The position ensures that all required materials, infrastructure, compliance, and safety conditions are in place to enable efficient and high-quality workshop execution.

This role acts as the central authority for workshop infrastructure and logistics, ensuring seamless support for prototype build-ups, hardware integration, and troubleshooting activities across multiple ADAS projects.

The Operations & Logistics Workshop Manager works in close alignment with:

  • Technical ADAS Project Managers (project execution & delivery)
  • Senior Hardware Engineers (daily operations & prototype parts)
  • Workshop Foremen (daily operations & parts distribution)

Key Responsibilities:

Workshop Operations Support (Non-Technical)

  • Ensure operational readiness of the workshop to support all ADAS build-up and integration activities
  • Align priorities and resource availability with Project Managers and Foremen
  • Act as escalation point for operational constraints impacting project execution
  • Support planning of workshop capacity, space allocation, and infrastructure needs

Parts Management, Storage & Logistics

  • Own end-to-end management of workshop materials and components:

- Oversee parts ordering process according to set requirements with respective ERP software

- Receiving, storage, inventory tracking, and distribution of parts

- Coordination of parts availability for prototype builds and updates

- Ensuring proper storage conditions and traceability

  • Coordinate domestic and international shipping activities:

- Preparation and execution of shipments (incoming/outgoing)

- Handling of customs documentation, import/export compliance, and brokerage coordination

- Ensuring timely delivery aligned with project timelines

  • Coordinating supplier onboarding and supplier management

Hazardous Goods & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with all regulations related to handling and transportation of hazardous materials
  • Define and enforce proper storage, labeling, and transport procedures
  • Maintain required certifications, documentation, and audits
  • Act as responsible authority for hazardous goods within the workshop

Facility Management & Infrastructure

  • Own all facility-related topics, including:

- Workshop layout, space management, and infrastructure planning

- Maintenance coordination (equipment, utilities, building systems)

- Vendor coordination for facility services

  • Ensure that workshop infrastructure supports evolving project and engineering requirements

Safety (OSHA) & Security

  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and internal safety standards
  • Define, implement, and monitor safety procedures and workplace guidelines
  • Conduct safety reviews, training, and audits
  • Coordinate incident reporting and corrective actions
  • Own workshop security topics, including:

- Access control and asset protection

- Compliance with customer-specific security requirements

  • Coordination with internal safety/security teams and headquarters

Team Leadership (Workshop Specialists) The Foremen

  • Lead and manage a team of Workshop Specialists supporting logistics and facility operations
  • Assign and prioritize tasks, ensuring workload balance and efficiency
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance oversight
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational processes

HQ Coordination (Corporate Functions)

  • Act as primary interface to Bertrandt US HQ for: Logistics standards and processes, Facility and safety requirements, Compliance, audits, and reporting
  • Ensure alignment with global Bertrandt processes and standards
  • Drive implementation of corporate initiatives at workshop level

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and optimize processes for: Inventory and logistics management, Shipping and customs handling, Safety and facility operations (fitting to both local/City & State requirements and the Customer requirements)
  • Implement structured tracking and reporting (i.e. project timing KPIs, documentation, audits)
  • Drive efficiency, transparency, and scalability across operations
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or Technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in workshop operations, logistics, or facility management (automotive, prototype, or engineering environments preferred)
  • Strong experience with: Inventory management and logistics processes, Shipping, customs, and import/export regulations, Hazardous goods handling and compliance
  • Knowledge of: OSHA and workplace safety standards, Facility and infrastructure management, Proven leadership experience managing operational teams
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional and international environments
  • Occasional domestic business travels. (Strong collaboration with Bertrandt US Greenville SC office)
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Occasional support also on the weekends (if necessary)

Preferred Qualifications?

  • Experience automotive prototype or R&D environments
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of customer-specific compliance requirements (OEM/Tier 1)
  • German language skills (optional)
