What does a Lab/Radiology Technician do?
Under the direction of leadership, the Lab/Radiology Technician preforms and assists with all duties related to specimen collection, laboratory testing and/or diagnostic radiology procedures.
What does a typical day on the job look like?

Competently performs phlebotomy procedures. Collects necessary laboratory specimens for on-site or reference lab testing per provider orders. Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling and logging specimens.
Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and trouble shooting, calibrates equipment using approved procedures, and monitors quality control measures.
Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitor, physicians and co-workers by following established procedures and complying with all regulatory requirements. Takes preventive steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
Closely follows physician instructions and positions patient properly to obtain diagnostic imaging studies. Sets equipment to obtain the best density, detail and contrast of the area being imaged, minimizing the need for repeat imaging.
What are the requirements for the job?

Certified Radiology Technician with diploma from accredited school
Minimum one year experience performing radiographic procedures
Current BLS certification from AHA
Phlebotomy skills and knowledge of various specimen collection techniques
Excellent interpersonal and verbal & written communication skills
Maintains quality results by running standards and controls
Verifies equipment function
Contributes to a safe and secure environment
