The High Speed Data (HSD) Systems Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and support critical network systems that enable reliable broadband services. This role requires strong Linux expertise, automation skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure challenges while supporting technology initiatives and operational excellence.
- Design, implement, and maintain core network systems and solutions supporting high-speed data infrastructure.
- Deploy, upgrade, and manage applications and platforms related to DNS, DHCP, DOCSIS provisioning, authentication, and access management.
- Perform system administration, troubleshooting, and optimization within Linux environments, including CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Support lifecycle management activities for HSD applications, including upgrades, enhancements, and backend technology improvements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including low-level designs, configuration templates, procedures, application diagrams, knowledge articles, and support materials.
- Participate in technology implementation projects by analyzing requirements, estimating timelines, identifying risks, and supporting delivery activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to define technical requirements, limitations, and implementation strategies.
- Develop automation solutions using scripting and programming tools such as Python, Ansible, Shell, or related technologies.
- Troubleshoot escalated technical issues and serve as a point of contact for complex application and infrastructure concerns.
- Manage vendor-supported solutions and collaborate with technology partners to ensure effective system performance.
- Conduct technical training and knowledge sharing for new technologies, upgrades, and system implementations.
- Participate in on-call support, scheduled network changes, and occasional after-hours activities as needed.
- Support security practices and maintain compliance with infrastructure and operational standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing telecommunications or enterprise network systems, strong Linux administration skills, and a passion for automation and infrastructure reliability. This position requires technical depth, problem-solving ability, and the flexibility to support critical systems in a dynamic environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in network engineering or related technical roles.
- 4+ years of hands-on Linux administration experience, particularly with CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
- 4+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating high-availability corporate or telecommunications networks.
- Strong automation and scripting experience using tools such as Python, Shell, Perl, Docker, and/or Ansible.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and understanding of network security best practices.
- Experience with HSD technologies, DOCSIS provisioning, DNS, DHCP, and related broadband infrastructure is preferred.
- Experience with technologies such as IPv4, IPv6, NTP, LDAP, Docker, and networking standards is beneficial.
- Experience working with vendor platforms such as Incognito, Infoblox, or Red Hat is preferred.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and coordinate technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and infrastructure operations.
- Experience supporting application design, implementation, and technology integration projects.
- Ability to troubleshoot escalated issues and provide effective technical guidance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams and stakeholders.
- Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations and support activities outside standard business hours.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as required.
- Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, CCNA, or other networking certifications are preferred.
