Sanderling Renal Services, a good company to work for with great people to work with is looking for a full-time, experienced, Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse. Qualifications:
Must hold a full and unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the United States, or its territories.
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the Hospital serviced is located.
Nephrology Experience:
Must have completed a minimum of 2,000 hours experience as a registered nurse in nephrology nursing caring for patients who require or may require dialysis, or
educating/supervising staff members who care for patients who require or may require dialysis within the two (2) years prior to submitting this application.
Must have completed twenty (20) contact hours of continuing education in nephrology nursing from approved providers within the past two (2) years
Must have proficiency with the dialysis equipment utilized in the acute dialysis program.
Must have be a CDN or shall pass the CDN Examination within 12 months of starting at this position (waived for dialysis nurses with more than 10 years of experience in dialysis)
Responsibilities:
Performance of Dialysis
Shall be available via telemedicine to the Hospital Floor or Critical Care Nurse and the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician who are monitoring the patient during the time the patient is on dialysis.
Prior to initiation of dialysis the Acute Dialysis Nurse will confer with the floor or critical care nurses to discuss the needs and special conditions of the patient.
Acute Telenephrology RN
With the assistance of the local nurses and/or on-site CCHT, the Acute Dialysis Nurse will perform a pre-dialysis assessment of the patient.
The acute nurse shall review the nephrology physician orders to determine the target weight, the amount of fluid to be removed, use of heparin and/or other drugs related to hemostasis, dialysate composition, blood flow rate, and duration of dialysis.
The acute nurse shall confer with the nephrologist if there is any uncertainty with the dialysis orders.
During dialysis the Acute Nurse will review the patient’s progress, which will include, but not be limited to, information regarding the patient’s hemodynamic stability, mental status, laboratory values, dialysis access performance, and vital signs. The acute dialysis nurse shall review the electronic dialysis flow sheet, online, with the CCHT who is monitoring the dialysis machine and patient, and shall perform a pre-dialysis and post-dialysis nursing assessment via telemedicine. The acute dialysis nurse shall electronically sign the flow sheet.
Post dialysis, the acute dialysis nurse shall review the patient’s condition with the floor or critical care nurses, and relate any and all aspects of the patient’s condition that have changed from the time of the pre-dialysis assessment.
