JOB RELATIONSHIPS

Responsible to the Director of Quality, Clinical Practice & Nursing Excellence.

DEFINITION OF POSITION
-
Works collaboratively, efficient & effectively with the teams, specialty department staff, providers and Director to ensure that education needs are assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated to ensure quality standard of patient care and outcomes are maintained, as well as regulatory standard requirements are met. Proactively monitors the real time performance, safety behaviors and medical record documentation related to patient safety & quality initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional
-
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.

MSN preferred; BS required and BSN within 18 months of position if not already obtained.

BLS Healthcare provider certification.
-
Minimum of 5 years in nursing; with 2 years being in the specialty area. Preferably experience in education, quality, accreditation readiness, safety, and/or performance improvement initiatives.

National Certification and membership of professional organization preferably in area of specialty. If not certified, obtained within 1 year of position.

Participates in various councils/projects as identified.

Stays current with all competencies required of the specialty area RN.

Maintain education requirements as per NCBON.

Ability to be available with call on off shifts, weekends, holidays.

Staffs in area of specialty a minimum of once every 6 weeks and maintain competence in each specialty area/departments.

Knowledge & Skills: a) Knowledge of current trends, standards of care and issues related to the specialty clinical practice, and quality indicators of health care. b) Fluidly have computer skills for the use of Google, Microsoft office, electronic documentation, and other related hospital information systems.
