Position: Events and Volunteer Manager
Job Status: Exempt
Department: Development
Reports to: Senior Director of Development
Summary/Objective
The Events and Volunteer Manager is responsible for supporting the organization's fundraising, event experience, and volunteer goals. This role supports the Senior Director of Development (SDD) in fundraising, strengthening relationships, and increasing awareness of PPCS in the community. The Events and Volunteer Manager will lead and manage the organization’s events and recruit and retain volunteers. This position will also be the point-person for in-kind donations and the Associates Board.
Essential Functions
- Manages the organization’s special events including logistics, on-site coordination, committee management, and post-event follow up.
- Obtain both monetary and in-kind event sponsorships to meet revenue goals.
- Assist the Senior Director of Development in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding prospective donors and corporate sponsorships.
- Manage other organization events as needed.
- Lead and grow the organization’s volunteer program including recruitment, placement, recognition, and retention.
- Create and deliver volunteer trainings and orientations including tours for both volunteers and staff.
- Acts as the staff liaison for the Associates Board assisting the group in fundraising and volunteer efforts.
- Consistently adapt targeted requests for in-kind donations to meet the organization’s needs.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, prospects, and stakeholders. Ensure effective communication and stewardship.
- Maintain a working knowledge of PPCS programs for use in donor stewardship.
- Other duties assigned by the COO and SDD, based on PPCS need.
Required Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Marketing).
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit development, with a proven track record of successful fundraising and communications. Experience in writing, editing, and managing various types of content across multiple platforms.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, organized work style, and excellent customer service. Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with fundraising software, donor management systems, and event management.
- Attributes: Strategic thinker, results-oriented, and passionate about the organization's mission.
- Physical and Environmental Requirements: Ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand for hours at one time.
- Work Schedule: Some evenings and weekends required as needed for event management and volunteer and donor relations.
