About This Position
Overtown Youth Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Post-High and Civic Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This role is perfect for an individual who is committed to empowering and enriching the lives of post-high young adults (ages 18-25) from under-resourced communities, guiding them to realize their full potential. This position provides comprehensive support services for post-secondary education, training, and career development, preparing young adults to become Positive Contributing Citizens. The Lead Post-High and Civic Engagement Coordinator monitors progress, provides 1:1 coaching, academic advising, financial aid assistance, career exposure, job interview preparation, and resource referrals, fostering a culture of alumni engagement, and promotion of civic engagement among OYC Miami's service population.

What you would do:
- Provide academic support, including major selection and retention strategies, maintaining a 75% retention rate for young adults on caseload.
- Monitor student progress in college or vocational programs, tracking registration, withdrawal, and employment placement.
- Oversee disbursement of OYC Miami scholarships, managing requests and balances in collaboration with the Director and Finance Department.
- Collaborate with High School Coordinators and the College and Career Team on college access and transition activities, including college tours and financial planning sessions, targeting 85% completion for graduating seniors.
- Plan and execute college tours, connecting with Post-High students attending schools in the area.
- Visit local colleges of Post-High young adults (e.g., Miami Dade College, FIU, etc.).
- Provide career guidance and counseling, including major selection, resume review, job search strategies, cover letter writing, and career interest inventories.
- Attend professional networking events to secure employment leads for participants.
- Build relationships with businesses/corporations for internships and employment.
- Maintain and engage 85% of Post-High caseload through quarterly check-ins and engagement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain Post-High student files according to OYC Miami standards (assessments, ISPs, progress notes).
- Provide case coordination services, including information, referrals, and linkages.
- Coordinate services with other professionals and paraprofessionals.
- Ensure accuracy of Post-High information and data for reliable reporting.
- Maintain the maximum number of participants enrolled in the program and monitor attendance.
- Collaborate with High School Coordinators and the College and Career Team on workshops, career assessments, and parent meetings.
- Collaborate to enroll 85% of graduating seniors into Miami Dade College (or other posts-secondary institutions).
- Participate in weekly case staffing and the quality improvement process.
- Manage the development and implementation of a civic engagement framework, initiatives and activities; including voter registration, non-partisan voter education, social justice, and environmental community engagement and field/data tracking
- Civic Engagement workshops at least quarterly agency wide for all levels (K – 12th and Family Programming)
- Coordinate with other CBO activities in an effort to scale Vote the Future initiatives
- Attend professional networking events and build relationships with corporations for civic engagement and financial literacy
- Act as a liaison within schools that we serve for civic engagement activities and projects
Who we're looking for:
- Associate degree in social work, education, or a human services-related field.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in youth programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) are necessary.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong ability to adapt to changing needs. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ACT, SAT, and financial aid.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass drug screening and Level 2 background check.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as needed.
