Custodian at ABS Commercial Cleaning – Austin, Texas

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at St. Michaels Academy. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff. Your primary goal will be to ensure that the facilities are well-maintained and meet the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to perform repetitive motions
• Ability to reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work
• Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques and procedures
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and carpet cleaners

Responsibilities:

• Performing janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, cleaning restrooms, and emptying trash cans
• Following oral and written instructions to ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and reporting any shortages or malfunctions to the supervisor
• Ensuring that all safety rules and regulations are followed while performing custodial duties
• Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Skills:

As a Custodian, you will use your skills in balancing priorities, following instructions, and performing repetitive motions to ensure that our facilities are clean and safe. You will also use your skills in reading and interpreting documents to understand safety rules and regulations. Additionally, you will use your skills in reaching with hands and arms and using hands and fingers to handle cleaning equipment and supplies. Overall, your skills will be essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
