About This Position

SUMMARY: The Operations Manager will plan, develop, and establish processes to meet customer requirements. The Operations Manager has the overall responsibility of the shop floor. The Operations Manager must possess the technical knowledge and excellent decision-making skills that pertain to: Product, production, equipment, and customer requirements. The Operations Manager aids the General Manager in formulating and administering organizational policies and in developing long range goals and objectives. The Operations Manager is also responsible for implementing, facilitating, and ensuring the compliance of all safety requirements and guidelines. They must be skilled enough to distinguish what type of training needs to be provided to the personnel and coordinate any outside training to meet the requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain close surveillance over production through observation, personal contact, and staff meetings to ensure coordination and integration of workflow, timely production turnarounds, schedules, and utilization of personnel in the most cost-effective method and discipline.
  • Coordinate activities of departments for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives.
  • Conduct or facilitate safety training curriculum.
  • Responsible for job training requirements per established procedures and ensures skill matrices for each area are maintained.
  • Responsible for labor clocking discipline and reviewing timecards to meet company standards.
  • Participate in yearly budget planning to support head count and capital equipment needs.
  • Responsible for creating operational plans to support budget.
  • Responsible for capital equipment selection, installation, and startup.
  • Responsible for shop floor layout and optimization of workflow.
  • Responsible for emergency and hazardous situations.
  • Oversee production schedule to optimize productivity throughout the shop to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with the Quality Manager to implement, maintain, and ensure that quality goals and objectives are met.
  • Ensure that personnel are meeting their required goals and objectives.
  • Use job performance data to improvement inefficiencies regarding the shop, product, and process.
  • Responsible for the preventive maintenance requirements program.
  • Participate in MRB team and corrective and preventative action board.
  • Perform all functions of the job while adhering to established quality policies and procedures.
  • Uphold the company core values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities to include:

  • Training employees
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Appraising performance
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees
  • Interviewing prospective employees
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Excellent attention to detail
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Previous management experience.
  • CNC machining experience.
  • CNC programming experience.
  • Mechanical assembly experience.
  • Software proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and an ERP system.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of brazing of SST, steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in Engineering or Operational Management
  • Broad knowledge of a discipline such as electrical, chemical, or mechanical engineering, equal to a college degree.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 quality system not required, but preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Authorization to work in the United States. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, you should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
