Senior Estimator Secure and Strategize High-Impact Heavy Civil Concrete Projects

• Company: Gunter Construction Company.

• Salary/Pay Rate: $110,000 - $130,000 per year (based on experience) plus Performance Bonus.

• Project Scope: Commercial, Government, and Federal Heavy Civil/Concrete.

You will serve as a strategic architect of our project pipeline, transforming complex blueprints into profitable, winnable bids. This role offers the chance to lead heavy civil estimates for a company that values "field-first" logic and operational excellence. You will directly influence our growth by securing high-stakes contracts while ensuring our crews have the budgets they need to succeed.

• Formulate comprehensive project estimates and proposals to ensure accurate, competitive, and timely bid submissions.

• Analyze cost structures and production rates to protect gross margins and drive long-term profitability.

• Collaborate with operations and field teams to build realistic work plans and pre-bid construction sequences.

• Identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and potential risk factors that others miss to prevent costly surprises.

• Cultivate strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure reliable pricing and resource availability.

• Facilitate seamless project handoffs to operations teams to ensure site leaders understand every estimate assumption.

• Refine internal estimating systems and historical cost data to improve bidding speed and accuracy over time.

• Minimum of 7 to 15+ years of estimating experience specifically in concrete, excavation, or heavy civil work.

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related technical field.

• Proven track record of managing the full bid cycle for government, federal, or large commercial projects.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and professional technical writing for proposal development.

• Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

• Hands-on experience using B2W or HeavyBid software for complex civil estimating.

• Deep knowledge of DOT regulations and local Kansas City construction methodologies.

• Experience performing on-site constructability reviews and detailed quantity takeoffs.

• Preferred experience in design-build delivery environments, with the ability to collaborate across preconstruction, design, and execution phases
