Job Description

Pacific Northwest Transportation Services (PNWTS) is the proud supplier of carbon-neutral transportation services for the cruise industry in Victoria, British Columbia. As the exclusive supplier of buses on behalf of the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA), PNWTS provides motor coaches and double-decker buses for shore excursion tours and shuttle connections for cruise lines and is the sole provider of dispatch services on the Terminal. We are looking for an energetic and positive individual to join our Ground Transportation Safety team during the season (April – October).

The GT Control is responsible for directing driver & pedestrian traffic in accordance with site safety regulations to ensure a safe and organized terminal operation. Providing guidance and friendly service to guests on the terminal.

Wage: $27.40/hr

Job Types: Part-time seasonal

Job Description:

    Managing the ground transportation areaDirecting cabs and limousines as they enter the terminalPerforming crosswalk flaggingExecuting an effective traffic management plan with appropriate equipmentEffective communication to control the flow of traffic
Knowledge:

High school diploma requiredSound knowledge of local traffic regulations and have the ability to use hand signals and directional equipment to coordinate traffic flows as requiredFirst Aid training is an assetPrevious experience using radio communication
Skills:

Excellent communication and observational skills Work effectively in a team environment and conduct tasks in a polite and professional manner Abilities:

To work under pressure and must be available to work nights and weekendsTo be adaptiveTo work independently and part as a teamYou are available to work a variety of shifts, with adaptable schedulingMust be able to stand and work for extended periods of time - up to 6hrs incrementsWork in different operational areas and rotate between roles and locations, according to our operational demandsWork both indoors and outdoors and feel comfortable working in crowded spaces and in all weather conditionsTo Apply: If you are looking to broaden your horizon and are committed to making a difference, we’d like to meet you.
