Job Description

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager will serve as a key site leader responsible for overseeing all day-to-day warehouse operations across inbound, outbound, inventory control, labor planning, and workflow execution within a multi-shift distribution center environment.

This role will lead a large operational team consisting of supervisors, leads, and hourly associates across a newly launched, high-growth facility. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator with strong leadership presence, proven warehouse management experience, and the ability to build scalable processes, drive accountability, and improve operational performance in a startup-style environment.

We are currently building and scaling a brand-new distribution operation in Mont Belvieu, TX. This facility plays a critical role in supporting major retail customers and company growth initiatives. We are seeking a strong operational leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments and has experience building structure, driving performance, and leading large teams through growth and change.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field strongly preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant operational leadership experience may be considered

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in logistics, warehouse, or supply chain management
  • 3+ years leading supervisors and large hourly workforces in a high-volume distribution environment
  • Experience supporting startup operations, new facility launches, or rapidly scaling operations strongly preferred
  • Strong background overseeing inbound, outbound, inventory control, labor management, and operational planning
  • Experience managing KPIs, labor productivity, scheduling, and operational budgets
  • Experience using logistics software and systems (ERP, WMS, and TMS)
  • Skills/Abilities:

    • Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive accountability and operational discipline
    • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, change, and fast-paced operational demands
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
    • Advanced Excel and operational reporting/data analysis skills
    • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
    • Ability to prioritize, organize, and execute multiple operational initiatives simultaneously
    • Hands-on leadership style with strong floor engagement and operational visibility

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    Operational Leadership

    • Lead all daily distribution center operations across inbound, outbound, inventory, replenishment, shipping, and warehouse workflow execution
    • Oversee a two-shift, five-day operation supporting high-volume retail and distribution activity
    • Drive operational excellence through KPI management, labor productivity analysis, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Partner closely with the General Manager to establish scalable operational structure, accountability, and performance standards within a newly launched facility
    • Ensure operational readiness and execution during periods of rapid growth, seasonal volume increases, and changing business demands

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Directly manage a team of warehouse supervisors while indirectly leading leads and hourly associates across the operation
    • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, safety, and operational discipline
    • Coach and develop frontline leadership to strengthen execution, communication, and employee management capabilities
    • Drive staffing plans, scheduling strategies, labor utilization, and workforce planning initiatives
    • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management efforts in partnership with HR

    Inventory, Planning & Systems

    • Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle counting programs, reconciliation efforts, and inventory control processes
    • Manage wave planning and workload balancing to ensure efficient execution and service level attainment
    • Analyze operational data and reporting to identify trends, labor opportunities, bottlenecks, and process improvement opportunities
    • Utilize WMS, ERP, and reporting tools to monitor operational performance and support decision-making
    • Ensure compliance with customer routing, shipping, and operational requirements

    Financial & Performance Management

    • Manage departmental labor and operational expenses within budget expectations
    • Monitor productivity, throughput, utilization, and service metrics to achieve operational goals
    • Develop action plans to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize operational performance
    • Establish and maintain operational KPIs and accountability measures across leadership teams

    Safety & Compliance

    • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across the distribution center
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and operational procedures
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment

    Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking and prolonged standing within a warehouse environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10% for business needs
