Job Description

Supervisor Purchasing

The Purchasing Supervisor is a key leadership role within the Supply Chain department, responsible for managing procurement operations, supervising purchasing staff (including tier levels as applicable), and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. This role oversees the acquisition of medical and non-medical supplies, equipment, and services to support clinical and operational excellence across Valleywise Health. The Supervisor also leads investigations into product defects and recalls, coordinates regulatory reporting to the FDA and the Environment of Care Committee, and ensures adherence to Federal Uniform Guidance protocols for federally funded purchases.
Annual Salary Range: $65,686.40 - $96,886.40
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent experience required.
  • CMRP or other healthcare supply chain certification desirable.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in a healthcare or public sector setting, including 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Experience managing tier-level buyer staff.
  • Familiarity with FDA reporting protocols, Environment of Care standards, and Federal Uniform Guidance is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling & punctuation.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, time management and critical thinking skills are strongly preferred.
  • Must have the skill sets to use computers and purchasing related software, word processing and spreadsheets as required.
  • Must have the skills to operate other office equipment such as copiers, fax machines and printers, etc.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple projects and complete associated tasks on time and in a manner consistent with the position held.
  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
