Job Description:

Dow Jones' premium platform WSJ Pro is seeking a deputy bureau chief to manage coverage of financial distress, debt restructuring and corporate bankruptcy. In this role, you will lead a team of reporters producing market-moving scoops, data-centered analysis and insightful features for WSJ Pro Bankruptcy, serving its professional readership as well as the Wall Street Journal's general audience.

This job calls for an enterprising player-coach to drive coverage at the highest levels of law and finance on corporate upheavals, legal battles and survival stories among troubled companies ranging from energy and retail to pharma and crypto.

A strong background in restructuring and bankruptcy is preferred, as well as a solid knowledge of corporate finance and business generally. The job is based in New York.

You will:
  • Manage editorial content and strategy, driving coverage priorities and supervising Pro Bankruptcy's team of reporters
  • Drive proprietary stories on corporate restructuring, distressed-debt investing and chapter 11 bankruptcy cases
  • Vet scoops on tight deadlines, editing coverage that is both sophisticated and accessible
  • Originate smart analysis on the news and trends shaping the restructuring market
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other Pro editors and reporters on subjects like private credit, private equity and venture capital as needed
  • Co-lead production of Pro Bankruptcy's flagship daily newsletter

You have:
  • Demonstrated news judgment and a detail-oriented mindset
  • The ability to write content that is both sophisticated and accessible
  • A focus on professional development of your colleagues and subordinates
  • Prior management experience a plus
