Environmental Coordinator – Waste & Lab Pack Operations

Miller Environmental Group (MEG) is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to support hazardous waste operations, regulatory compliance, and project documentation. This role provides critical coordination between field teams, laboratories, disposal facilities, and internal staff to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient waste management practices at the branch level.
The Environmental Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting waste profiling and manifesting, coordinating waste shipments, and assisting with environmental reporting and compliance tracking. Lab pack services are a significant component of this role, including assisting with chemical segregation, packaging, inventorying, and documentation to ensure safe handling and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support hazardous waste profiling, classification, compatibility review, and packaging requirements
- Coordinate waste manifests, shipping paperwork, and regulatory documentation for disposal activities
- Track waste movements and maintain accurate records of inbound and outbound materials
- Maintain environmental compliance files, including waste profiles, approvals, and disposal facility records
- Assist with scheduling waste pickups and deliveries and communicate logistics with customers and vendors
- Coordinate with laboratories on sampling, characterization results, and profile updates
- Maintain project documentation, including manifests, sampling data, packaging records, and compliance files
- Support regulatory reporting, audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
- Manage inventory of labels, placards, manifests, and environmental documentation materials
- Coordinate with operations and field teams to support safe and compliant waste handling and lab pack activities
- Participate in lab pack operations, including chemical segregation, inventorying, labeling, and packaging of hazardous materials in accordance with DOT, EPA, and state regulations
- Assist in preparing and reviewing lab pack inventories, shipping documentation, and manifests
- Support spill response documentation and remediation project tracking as needed
- Communicate with customers, regulatory agencies, disposal facilities, and internal teams
- Assist other branches with profiling, system support, or documentation as needed
- Prepare follow-up documentation and ensure accuracy of environmental records
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or related field preferred
- Associate degree with relevant environmental or hazardous waste experience may be considered
- 1–3+ years of experience in hazardous waste operations, environmental compliance, lab pack services, or remediation preferred
- Familiarity with hazardous waste regulations, manifesting, and environmental compliance documentation
- Working knowledge of chemical compatibility and lab pack practices preferred
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must pass a post-offer drug screen and background check in accordance with applicable law
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in office, laboratory, warehouse, and field environments depending on project needs
- Regular involvement in field activities, including lab pack projects at customer sites
- Frequent sitting, typing, and computer use, with periodic standing and walking
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, industrial environments, and hazardous materials
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, respirators, or protective suits may be required
- Work environments may include moderate to loud noise levels
