As part of its continued growth, Ethox Chemicals is opening a new chemical plant on a 17-acre site in Pasadena, Texas, and is hiring a Lab Technician for its newly established quality control laboratory.
Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for Quality Control and Quality Assurance through advanced analytical testing. This role analyzes and approves incoming raw materials, in process samples, finished goods, and any other test as required.
Shift: Standard 1st shift business hours for first ~3-4 months, then transition to 12-hour rotational shift.
Pay: $36.00 - $40.00/hr., DOE
Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical and physical analyses of raw material, intermediates, finished products, and water samples in accordance with ISO 9001 standard and the Ethox Quality System.
- Perform headspace GC testing to evaluate 1, 4-dioxane, ethylene oxide, and propylene oxide.
- Troubleshoot analytical methods and laboratory equipment, documenting findings and communicating results to supervision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment following 5S and stablished safety procedures.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory records in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure proper functionality.
- Support environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform round-robin studies, manage lab samples, and complete other job-related tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline
- 3 – 5 years of analytical laboratory experience with strong understanding of chemical laboratory operations.
- Proficiency with analytical instrumentation (GC, titrators, condensers, Karl Fischer, TOC analyzer, etc.); willingness to pursue external training as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, Power Point)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to successfully interface with customers, associates, and the community.
- Ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and propose process improvements.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex requests, and perform effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as business needs permit.
- Regular and reliable attendance. Required to be on-site
Physical Requirements
Physical ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer performing repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
