Outpatient Phlebotomy Technician — Float -Position Summary
The Outpatient Phlebotomy Technician — Float interacts with patients and other health-care providers to collect, transport and/or process blood and other body fluids from a full spectrum of the patient population. He/she performs EKG procedures in conjunction with the Department of Cardiology. He/she participates in educational and training activities and may participate in the performance of routine administrative and non–routine technical functions.
*This is a float position that will support all of our Outreach Lab locations in MD/DE
Outpatient Phlebotomy Technician — Float -Position Requirements
Education
- Successful completion of an approved training program consisting of both lectures and practical application in phlebotomy or comparable education or experience.
- Will be trained in house to perform EKG functions.
Experience
- One year’s experience performing similar duties preferred.
- Should have good typing skills.
Outpatient Phlebotomy Technician—Float Work Schedule
- Personnel may be assigned to work mostly one shift or have a rotational schedule, and should be flexible to appropriately staff the department.
- Rotational coverage of weekends and holidays.
- Expected to work overtime, extended shifts, and/or additional weekends in times of staffing shortages, emergencies and unexpected increases in workload.
- Expected to respond in the event of a disaster.
