About This Position
This position is responsible for coordination of all facets of financial, accounting, and reporting related to the Surveyors office. Incumbent in this position must work across the agency’s divisions to conduct analysis and review of all financial transactions. Position follows established policies and procedures that controls most of their actions. Incumbent will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assignments. Position reports to the Surveyor.

The purpose and mission of the Marion County Surveyor’s agency is to provide the city, county, and township’s located in the city with information regarding land surveys. The agency is able to do this by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the constituents of Indianapolis and Marion County.

- Works to strict budget deadlines
- Compiles and analyzes data, prepares summaries, and works closely with Surveyor on budget planning.
- Monitors actual expenditures against budget, evaluate variances and revises original budget, as appropriate, informs Surveyor of any modifications.
- Researches and analyzes cost of large purchases, long term maintenance provides data to Surveyor.
- Trains staff on procedures and use of programs, for administrative duties.
- Attends all CFO meetings, provides report to Surveyor.
- Prepares all Position Evaluation Packets and Personnel Action Request forms.
- Works closely with Technical Surveyor on Document Preservation Projects and updating Data Base Take preventive measures to ensure the correct penalty is added to taxpayer’s bill adjusting from 5% to 10% as warranted
Associates degree in Accounting, Business, Management, Public finance, Computer Sciences, or related field with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in government. Ability to research and comprehend municipal ordinance is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Peoplesoft. Must be able to present complex data and communicate clearly and effectively. Must be able to establish and set priorities according to time sensitive information. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally both in oral and written formats.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Management, Public finance, Computer Sciences, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in government. Ability to research and comprehend municipal ordinance is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Peoplesoft. Must be able to present complex data and communicate clearly and effectively.
