Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Surgical Waiting Liaison is to communicate with the physicians and families of patients undergoing surgical intervention. This position provides updates, support, and direction to visitors/families as our patient transitions through the perioperative departments. The liaison will support our goal for providing excellent customer service as they collaborate with physicians and other healthcare workers to provide accurate and timely updates. The liaison will promote effective communication by directing physicians to families after procedures so that updates can be given in a separate area that protects the privacy of our patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Greet and introduce self to families and visitors arriving in the surgical family waiting area
- Sign in visitors/families and assign to waiting area
- Communicates start times, delays, or other pertinent information
- Proactively rounds on families/visitors to ensure needs are met
- Communicates and elevates any family concerns and issues
- Answer questions and direct families/visitors to desired locations in the hospital
- Maintains HIPPA
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members
- Direct surgeon to families/visitors after procedure
- Other duties and tasks assigned
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma and or GED required
- Evidence of strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Basic computer skills
- Able to stay focused and organized with frequent interruptions
- Effectively resolve customer concerns

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- 6:00am– 4:30pm M-F or hours as required by the job.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM
PURPOSE: To identify specific functions job requirements and work environment factors that could affect job performance.
O = Occasionally = 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200+ repetitions.
