Entity: Aultman Alliance Hospital

Position Summary:

  1. The Athletic Trainer, Certified, provides the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aid) and reconditioning as set forth by the Athletic Trainer’s Board of Certification and Ohio Athletic Training laws. The Athletic Trainer follows Athletic Training procedures as established by the Standard Operating Procedure.
  2. The Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) provides rehabilitation treatments, patient education, and maintenance of appropriate patient records under the direct supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine and performs such delegated tasks as are commensurate with their education and training while in the Sports Medicine Department and Ohio Athletic Training laws.

Department Summary:

Aultman Sports Medicine assists local student athletes and recreational athletes by providing athletic training services to local high schools, universities and sporting events. The Athletic Trainer’s (AT’s) provide injury prevention, recognition, referrals and rehabilitation to assist athletes of all ages. The department also provides Strength and Conditioning training to local athletes to assist with proper strength, mobility, nutrition and recovery of athletic events.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of bachelor’s degree in health-related field, with current Athletic Trainer’s Board of Certification
  2. Currently licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the State of Ohio.
  3. CPR Certification required through American Heart Association.
  4. Must be computer literate to complete task(s) as required. Such as MediTech (Hospital Support Software), Halogen (performance appraisal system) Relias (education system), ability to retrieve emails, complete online enrollment for health insurance/benefits and any other programs as assigned.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  1. Provides treatment programs for assigned patients.
  2. Observes and documents the response of the patient to the treatment plan.
  3. Promotes and maintains a safe environment of care.
  4. Shows an interest in professional enhancement and learning new skills.
  5. Assists in general department operations.
  6. The athletic trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aid) and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of Certification.
  7. The athletic trainer will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment.
  8. The athletic trainer will carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team physician.
  9. The athletic trainer will maintain Athletic Trainer’s Board of Certification and CPR certification in accordance with those respective institutions.
  10. The athletic trainer will cover assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the program manager.
  11. The athletic trainer must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the athlete’s status and interpret the appropriate information.
  12. Responsible for checking emails and online learning assignments (Relias) on a regular basis.
  13. All other duties as assigned.
  14. Must be knowledgeable in the use of modalities, machines and appliances.

Working Conditions:

  • Work shifts are variable dependent on school sport schedule and needs
  • Work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage
  • Staff may assist to other locations within the foundation when needed
  • Travel with approved and appropriate teams may be required
