Location: Washington, D.C. Metro Area | Field-Based
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Pay: $24.00–$29.00 per hour
Estimated Base Compensation: $49,920–$60,320 annually before overtime
Overtime: Overtime eligible
Travel: Up to 80%, including overnight travel
Required Test: Human Performance Test
Quest International provides field service, technical support, preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and lifecycle services for medical-device manufacturers and other technical-equipment organizations.
As a Field Service Technician, you will represent Quest at hospitals, laboratories, medical facilities, industrial environments, and other customer locations. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical equipment while providing dependable customer support and accurate service documentation.
What You’ll Do- Travel to customer locations to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on medical, diagnostic, laboratory, industrial, OEM, and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose equipment problems using a digital multimeter, hand tools, power tools, and approved diagnostic equipment.
- Troubleshoot failures to the field-replaceable unit, module, board, cable, connector, power-supply, sensor, motor, wiring-harness, or assembly level.
- Repair or replace failed circuit boards, power supplies, wiring, connectors, harnesses, sensors, motors, modules, and mechanical assemblies.
- Follow service manuals, diagrams, standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and customer-site protocols.
- Verify equipment operation after service and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
- Complete accurate service reports documenting the problem, troubleshooting performed, parts used, work completed, test results, and recommended next steps.
- Communicate professionally with customers, technical support, service leadership, and internal Quest teams.
- Manage travel schedules, customer appointments, tools, service materials, documentation, and changing field assignments independently.
- Use Windows-based systems to access manuals, review diagnostic information, manage service files, and support equipment troubleshooting.
- Associate degree.
- At least one year of professional hands-on experience in field service, equipment repair, medical equipment service, industrial maintenance, electronics repair, installation, automotive diagnostics, appliance repair, or another electro-mechanical technical role.
- Experience servicing electro-mechanical products.
- Experience troubleshooting equipment to the FRU, module, board, part, or component level.
- Experience working with complicated wiring harnesses, connectors, sensitive electronic components, equipment modules, or mechanical assemblies.
- Professional experience using a digital multimeter.
- Familiarity with service tools such as a vacuum or pressure meter, frequency counter, power supply, oscilloscope, or comparable diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, diagrams, service procedures, SOPs, and safety instructions.
- Strong service-documentation and customer-communication skills.
- Ability to work independently at customer locations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
- Ability to meet applicable work-related automobile-insurance requirements.
- Ability to travel up to 80%, including overnight travel, early departures, late returns, and changing customer schedules.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 pounds and performing hands-on field work.
- Compensation expectations within the approved $24.00–$29.00 hourly range.
- Willingness to complete the required Human Performance Test.
You must be comfortable using Windows-based systems while installing, maintaining, configuring, or troubleshooting technical equipment.

- Optical-product experience
- FRU-, module-, board-, part-, or component-level troubleshooting
- Experience replacing circuit boards, sensors, motors, power supplies, wiring, connectors, harnesses, or assemblies
- Experience using a vacuum or pressure meter, frequency counter, oscilloscope, bench power supply, cable tester, or diagnostic tester
- Command Prompt or PowerShell experience
- BMET, electronics, electrical, automotive, aviation, robotics, mechatronics, industrial-maintenance, or military technical training
- Hospital, laboratory, controlled-environment, or professional customer-site experience
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, work-order, and service-reporting skills
- Experience independently managing frequent travel and changing service schedules
This is a field-based position serving customers throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and other assigned territories.

This is not a remote IT-support or help-desk position. The role requires hands-on equipment installation, troubleshooting, repair, customer interaction, and field documentation.
