About This Position
Position Summary
Medical Technology Associates is seeking a skilled and dependable Hot/Cold Technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of temperature-controlled equipment and environmental systems. This role supports laboratories, medical facilities, research institutions, and industrial clients by ensuring reliable heating and cooling performance across critical applications.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of refrigeration, and experience working with regulated or controlled environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair:
- Laboratory refrigerators and freezers
- Ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezers
- Environmental chambers
- Incubators and warming cabinets
- HVAC-integrated specialty cooling/heating systems
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues
- Perform preventative maintenance and system calibrations
- Ensure equipment meets manufacturer specifications and compliance standards
- Document service reports and maintain accurate records
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers
- Follow safety protocols and industry regulations
- Participate in on-call rotation (if required)
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years’ experience in refrigeration, HVAC, or temperature-controlled systems
- EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
- Strong understanding of:
- Refrigeration cycles
- Electrical controls
- Compressors and heat exchangers
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical schematics
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred:
- Experience with laboratory or medical-grade equipment
- Knowledge of GMP or regulated environments
- Basic networking knowledge for smart/connected systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and ladder use
