Description:
  • Plan, coordinate, revise, and edit written materials about the company’s architectural and urbanism projects and research
  • Document and share the company’s work with diverse audiences
  • Manage the development of new publication projects (books, magazine issues) as a thought partner and practical producer, refining themes and ideas, and conducting in-depth historical research
  • Develop story or content ideas, ensuring that audience appeal is considered
  • Lead efforts to secure high-resolution images and permissions
  • Use digital software to design publications for print
  • Write text that is consistent with the company’s publication style, editorial policies, and publishing requirements
  • Coordinate with graphic designers, publishers, and printers
  • Edit and review company-wide design texts (booklets and communication materials, etc.) to detect and correct errors; verify facts, names, locations, dates, and statistics
  • Prepare and edit copy to improve readability, focusing on style, content, structure, and grammar
  • Work closely with company leaders and design teams to write and edit narrative text about the company’s projects, which range from buildings and urban plans to self-initiated architectural research
  • Evaluate and respond to external publication requests
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Architecture, or related field
  • 1 year of relevant experience as a Publications Manager, Editor, Program Assistant, or alternate acceptable related occupation.

Work or academic experience must have included:

  • Developing, writing, and reviewing long-form editorial content for publication (books and periodicals); conducting structured interviews to collect primary source material; integrating text and visuals.
  • Analyzing architectural and urban plans, sections, elevations, diagrams, construction documents, and 3D physical models, to understand building materials, spatial relationships, user experience, among other design principles.
  • Utilizing the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, to design publications.
  • Copyediting text for clarity, grammar, and consistency with major editorial style guides (MLA, AP, Chicago) and in-house manuals; fact-checking (dates, statistics, names, locations); utilizing revision software tools (Microsoft Word Document Comparison, Track Changes; Adobe Acrobat PDF markup and review).
  • Performing archival research using catalogues, databases, finding aids, and digitized collections to locate, compare, and analyze primary and secondary sources (architectural periodicals, books, drawings, photos, maps).
  • Securing high-resolution visuals for print publications; managing copyright and licensing agreements; and organizing and tracking visual assets using cloud-based file-sharing services.
